Chairman told to resign

SULLY Community Council was thrown into turmoil last week when the council asked for the resignation of the chairman by passing a vote of no confidence in him.

The council passed the resolution against chairman Ray Cox unanimously at its meeting last Thursday.

Last year, former chairman Janice Boland and the clerk of the council both quit their posts.

The resolution against Cllr Cox was proposed by vice-chairman Mary Bollingham, who had a vote of no confidence passed against her earlier this year.

Cllrs Sylvester, Stephenson and Barlow backed the vote against Cllr Cox.

Mary Bollingham said: "I proposed the resolution because of concerns over a number of procedural errors in the way council business has been conducted.

"It has now come to light that the vote of no confidence taken against me earlier this year was invalid. Also a meeting was called which was not advertised."
