Milk from lake

DEREK Hughes, a karate instructor from Barry who runs karate clubs in both Barry and Penarth, devised a novel way to raise money for Children in Need last week.

Derek drank a pint of milk two metres from the bottom of Cosmeston Lake.

Derek, whose karate students have also been working hard to raise money for the charity, said: "Doing something like this is very dangerous and could be fatal if something went wrong.

"But I had a good safety team to back me up, including good friend Mel Jones, a rescue diver who is trained to get me to the surface and give me emergency first aid if needed."
