Church sold off for flats

HOMESEEKERS will be able to make a heavenly move as part of a Penarth church is to be sold off for flats.

A sizeable section of Albert Road Methodist Church is up for sale and already has planning permission for six new flats.

Margaret Ford, an administrator for Albert Road Methodist Church, said: "Part of the church is up for sale.

"However, we are retaining the adjoining property which will be renovated as a church and a meeting room.

"We will continue to run as normal and services will not be affected.

"Albert Road Methodist Church will benefit from some of the money raised by the sale, and we are looking forward to celebrating our centenary in 2007."

Albert Road Methodist Church was built in 1907.

The sale is being handled by property consultants Hirons, Morgan and Yapp.

Detailed planning permission for six flats was granted by the Vale of Glamorgan Council on September 1.
