How "bout that? ABC boxers put on a great show!

PENARTH ABC put on a brilliant boxing show at Penarth Leisure Centre.

The stars of the show for Penarth were Wayne Williams and Joe Morgan, both fighters having the first fight.

Wayne boxed Tom Cullen from Rhoose ABC, a very tall and sharp boxer.

Coach Neil Munn told Wayne to pump out his jab from the start and not to stop throwing punches when inside.

Wayne did this with brilliant effect, though Cullen was still coming back with some sharp shots of his own.

Going into the last round Wayne knew he had to win the round to win the fight. He went out like a true gladiator and punched his way to victory.

Joe Morgan boxed a very strong lad from Barry West End, Jack Williams.

Although both boys are only 14, Williams had the body of a man with muscles on muscles.

But Joe being Joe, this didn"t bother him at all and right from the first bell he went straight at his opponent.

Williams threw some big punches and going into the second round Joe was told by Neil to be careful and keep it tight for the first half of the round, as this was when Williams was dangerous, but to go to work with his jab and his hooks in the second half of the round.

Joe did this like an old pro, winning the next two rounds with an excellent box fighter style.

Joe has a very promising future.

Little ten-year-old Danny Dyer had his first fight and his first win with a great performance.

Ryan and Kieron Pring both boxed well on the night with Kieron having first fight.

Both boxers were unlucky to lose narrowly on points.

Penarth"s heavyweight Jon Boland lost his fight against very experienced and sharp Carl, from the Army.

Coach Neil is having problems getting fights for Jon and is having to get very experienced boxers which, although unfair on Jon, will gain him valuable experience for the Welsh Championships next year, when he will try to win his first Welsh vest.
