DINAS POWYS 2
BETTWS 2
DINAS Powys went into last Saturday's Welsh League Division 1 game with the confidence gained from their previous game but were brought down to earth with a bump by the'in your face' style of the opposition.
The early pace was frenetic with Bettws pressing Dinas back and it came as no surprise when Bettws took an early lead.
Just on half-time Bettws's aggressive style and long ball game again bore fruit when Gavin Thomas received the ball on the edge of the area and shot over Joe Cusheri in the Dinas goal to double their lead.
Two minutes into the second half Dinas were awarded a free-kick 10 yards outside the penalty area. Nathan Hosgood took it quickly passing to Phil James who beat a defender before firing just inside the post to bring Dinas back into the game.
In the 59th minute the home side scored an excellent equaliser when Paul Carro drifted in from the left beating three defenders before putting the ball wide of Leon Cosker in the Bettws goal.
The away side's aggressive play now started to backfire on them and in the 77th minute Karl Miller was sent off to be followed in the 92nd minute by Owen Atkinson, both following second bookings.
The 2nd Team played at Bryntirion and lost 1-2 in the Welsh League Reserve East Division; the Third team were beaten by Barry FC in the Vale League; and the Youth Team played at Caerleon beating them 3-2 in the Welsh League Youth League.
