New coach in the club

PENARTH Lawn Tennis Club has appointed Rob Cunningham as its new coach.

He succeeds Anna Sorkin at the Rectory Road club, who has moved to London with her family.

Rob, who has a BSc in Applied Sports Science from Glamorgan University, has a wealth of experience coaching all ages and standards and holds Lawn Tennis Association coaching qualifications.

Rob said: "I'm looking forward to developing a varied and exciting programme for members that will encourage as many as possible to get on court and enjoy playing.

"In particular, I'll be focusing on performance improvement for younger players."

Club chairman Simon Elias said: "It's great to have someone of Rob's calibre on board and we're looking forward to offering members the most comprehensive coaching programme ever.

"There'll be no excuse not to play this year!"

The club has organised a'meet the coach' evening on Friday, January 6, followed by a mini tennis session on the following Saturday morning.
