A BENCH has been placed in a Vale village in memory of a St Cyres school boy who was killed in a car crash earlier this year.
Family members and friends of Kyle John Smith assembled around the wooden seat on Friday, situated opposite St Mary"s Church in Wenvoe, and paid their respects to the much-loved teenager.
Kyle, who was 16, was killed when he was thrown from a car when it hit the central reservation of the Ely link road in February.
Kyle"s mum Angela spoke at the ceremony, and her speech was followed by a prayer said by the Canon Adrian Berry.
Angela, mum to James, aged 16, six-year-old Georgina and wife to John, said: "I hope people will use this bench and I hope when they sit on the seat they will remember everything in life that is good.
"Kyle"s life was too short and I am sure that everyone who knew him and was touched by him will feel that too."
She continued: "I remember Kyle everyday, in every funny way.
"He never showed off about anything and always cared for everyone else. He liked a laugh and a joke and he was everybody"s friend.
"He was our first born, special son."
