Search is on for top sports personalities

THE search has begun once again for the Vale of Glamorgan's top sports personalities.

The annual event, which is run by the Vale of Glamorgan District Sports Council, in association with the Vale Council, seeks to recognise a range of individuals for their achievements and contributions to sport across the area.

There are 10 categories for the awards and entrants must currently reside in the Vale or be a Vale club or school member.

The award categories cover volunteers, junior and senior females, junior and senior males, disabled sports persons, teams, coaches, schools and Dragon Sport volunteers.

The prestigious awards evening will be held on Friday, March 31, at the Barry Memorial hall,

Nomination forms are available by contacting the Vale of Glamorgan Council's Sports, Art and Play Development team and must be returned by Friday, January 6.

Once the panel have considered nominees, a shortlist of three will be made for each category.

A short video will be filmed of selected finalists, and this will be shown on the evening of the awards. Winners will be presented with a glass trophy.

District Sports Council chairperson Chris Lloyd commented: "The sports personality evening is the highlight of our sporting calendar. We reward the hard work within the Vale's sporting community."
