MARIE Curie Cancer Care is still looking to recruit a team of 25 Penarth cyclists to participate in The Great 500 - the organisation s biggest ever fundraising event.
Some 500 cyclists from throughout the UK will ride one of five routes across Europe in September 2006, to Poland s capital Warsaw, the birthplace of Marie Curie.
Marie Curie fundraiser Emma Baldwin said: Cycling is a great way to get fit, and some readers may have been lucky enough to get a bike for Christmas.
If so, what better way to make the most of your new bike than to sign up for the ultimate cycle experience!
From cycling enthusiasts looking for a new and exciting challenge to those who have not cycled for years and want to get pedalling again, now is the time to get on your bike!
There is a route for all abilities and for every mile covered on this incredible journey you will provide another hour of cancer care for someone staying at the hospice.
The event is open to anyone above the age of 16 with a good level of fitness.
The hospice is looking to recruit a local team of 25 cyclists and in doing so the money they raise will fund the care of the patients staying at the hospice for four days.
Every cyclist is required to raise a minimum sponsorship - this will cover transport, insurance, meals and accommodation, a bike for the duration of the challenge, support crew, a training programme, fundraising advice - and over half of your sponsorship will go directly to the hospice.
Emma added: This challenge will change your life and the lives of those people with cancer.
There are only 500 places up for grabs and the Vilnius to Warsaw route is already full.
Places are still available for the other four fantastic routes, so if you are interested please contact me on 02920 426068 for a registration pack.
