IN BRIGHT sunshine, but on a frozen pitch, both sides worked hard to overcome the difficult conditions in this Welsh League Division 1 match on Wednesday of last week.
But it was the greater firepower of Maesteg that gave the home side all three points.
The first 15 minutes were an even affair with Joe Cusheri in the Dinas goal making a couple of comfortable saves and the reply coming when Neil Jeremy won the ball wide on the right before hitting a cross-field ball to Steve Provis on the left of the penalty area.
His cross was met by Ramos Karvouniaris but his header went just over the crossbar.
A minute later Dinas were awarded a free kick quickly taken by Neil Jeremy.
He fed Ramos but his shot was well taken by Gary Wager in the Maesteg goal, and his clearance gave the home side the chance to take the lead when the ball was crossed from wide on the right and Robert Walters headed home from 10 yards.
The Dinas reply came from a Neil Jeremy corner, headed wide by Ramos and then a couple of minutes before half-time a through ball from Neil Jeremy was caught on the bye-line by Ramos, but his cross was volleyed just over the crossbar by Lloyd Davies.
Five minutes into the second half Maesteg s Paul Evans headed wide from a corner and then a clearance by the Dinas keeper was headed on by Phil James for Ramos to chase, but he was beaten to the ball by the home keeper.
In the 64th minute Maesteg doubled their lead when a throw on the right was initially cleared, but as had been happening all too often the ball came straight back at the Dinas defence and Robert Walters was given time and space to turn on the edge of the area and place the ball over the keeper and into the net.
The last 15 minutes saw Dinas throw caution to the wind and move forward in greater numbers.
Their best move came when the ball was passed through the midfield to Paul Carro who beat a defender and raced to the bye-line; his cross was met by Ramos whose first-time shot cleared the bar.
With three first-team regulars missing, Dinas were again found wanting against one of the better sides in the division.
