Windsor beat the winter blues!

ALTHOUGH there were not many turkeys to be seen, there was plenty of trotting at the Windsor Lawn Tennis Club on Tuesday, December 27.

Elaine Newton, Ladies Captain, kept us moving on the cold winter afternoon with a fun American Tournament.

The idea of these get-togethers is that everyone plays a few games of tennis then changes partners and opponents.

This mixing in creates a fun atmosphere and gives everyone an opportunity to meet new and old members.

Each player keeps their score and enjoys the fresh air, company, and refreshments afterwards.

The afterwards is always the good bit especially as members can provide their own speciality cakes.

Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Elaine kept us in order until dusk and there were even some winners.

David Clarke had the highest men s score and Margaret Richmond, Sian Owen, and Kay Clarke all had the highest ladies score. Prizes were distributed.

It was especially good to see Simon Jones on the tennis court. He and his family will be sadly missed as they emigrate to New Zealand next month.

They have promised to keep in touch and we wish them a happy future down under.

Also present was our chairman, Cathy Cole, who unfortunately won t be playing tennis for a while as she has broken her arm. No rude comments please!

We look forward to her having a speedy recovery; after all she was most improved lady player of 2005 and needs to maintain that progress.

New members are always welcome to join our friendly family tennis club. Please get in touch with Linda Ellis on 029 2071 2754.
