Your views are wanted

THE public's views are being sought as part of a wide-ranging survey into Penarth town centre.

Undertaken by Atkins Consultants, on behalf of the Vale of Glamorgan Coun-cil, the survey is placing the spotlight on the retail areas of Glebe Street, Lower Glebe Street and Ludlow Lane, and how they link to the town centre generally.

As part of the survey, funded by a Welsh Assembly Government Physical Regeneration Fund grant, in conjunction with the Penarth Central Renewal Area project, qualified researchers will approach the public to ascertain their views in the week beginning February 6.

The research part of the project is being conducted by Cardiff-based Research and Marketing Ltd, and all personnel will display identity badges.

The primary focus of the survey is:

l the appearance of shops/buildings

l the range of goods and services available in the town

l the general'feel' and'atmosphere' of the town

l how people feel about homes being developed in the town by way of a'homes above shops' initiative

Cabinet Member for Housing and Community Safety Cllr John Thomas said: "The study will lead to design concepts for shop front improvements, in line with proposed streetscape improvement proposals. The aim is to strengthen image, create development opportunities, and maximise the local economy to help Penarth reach its full potential."
