Fairtrade Forum is here - and it means business!

THE Penarth Fairtrade Forum has been targeting businesses as the group moves towards achieving the five goals it needs to complete before it can apply for Fairtrade town status for Penarth.

Many traders or businesses in the town will have received a visit from a member of the Forum as they delivered a letter outlining their work and seeking support for the town's first fairtrade directory.

To qualify for a free listing in the directory, your business or workplace either has to sell fairtrade products or you or your staff can agree to use fairtrade products such as tea or coffee in the workplace.

Councillor Mark Wilson, Chair of the Forum said: "Forum members have done their best to reach as many organisations in the main business areas of the town as possible.

"Obviously it is not possible to reach everyone and I apologise if your business was overlooked.

"If you are the owner or proprietor of a business in the town and you would like a copy of the letter and draft directory circulated recently, please contact Shan Bowden at the Town Council offices on 02920 700721.

"I am pleased at the response and support received so far," added Cllr Wilson.

"Those who have asked for a further visit or telephone call will be contacted by a member of the Forum shortly.

"Thank you to all those who have shown support to the campaign to date."
