CASCADE 2
SULLY SPORTS 5
ON A bitterly cold day at the top of the Rhymney Valley, Cas-cade were the hosts for the South Wales Senior League Division One match against Sully Sports.
Sports had the advantage of the wind, but it rather affected their play and Cascade defended well.
Sully made a few chances and after Joe Hinds was felled in the box, Spencer Lamb unfortunately drove the resultant penalty against the bar.
Cascade made Sports pay as they went ahead with a firm header from a corner and although the Sully men hit the bar again, they reached the break in arrears.
With Ferguson and Underdown winning plenty of ball, Sports were rewarded when a good run and a cross from Richard Yarr was met by Drew Fahiya at the near post. He beat the keeper to equalise.
Sports soon went ahead when a fine Ferguson pass saw Drew Fahiya again outpace the home defence to beat the keeper. A mistake in the Sports defence allowed Cascade to draw level, but this was only a blip
With Sports now in full cry, Ross Taylor's good run and cross were met by Fahiya, to complete a deserved hat-trick.
The Cascade defenders were struggling with Sports' pace and from another good cross, Fahiya was first to the ball to guide it past the keeper.
With the points heading back to the Vale, Fahiya climaxed a brilliant second half with another quick run and finish, to give Sports the points in a sterling second-half fight-back, in difficult conditions.
The squad all played a part and Sports returned to the top of the league.
The Sully men take a break from league action this Saturday as they entertain the useful Lisvane in the South Wales Senior Cup. Players should report at Swanbridge by 1pm.
ADMIRAL 5
SULLY SPORTS 1
For the second consecutive week, Sports had to rely on ten players, as injury and withdrawals again took their toll for the Vale of Glamorgan Premier Division match.
It's just not possible to compete for the whole game a man short, and Admiral took full advantage as the tired legs flagged in the second half.
Sports' goal was scored by David Stillman.
There are players in the club who are sadly disappointing as the Premier team struggles to survive.
The lads on the pitch are giving their all, but without some quick remedies, the squad will struggle.
Sports travel to Llantwit Major on Saturday. The club urges all to pull together for a real effort.
