Braving weather for RNLI

THREE young people from the Penarth Youth Project Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award group organised a sponsored walk in aid of the RNLI Lifeboat Service.

Alan O'Doherty, James Macdonald and Sarah Halpin walked 10km - dressed up in full RNLI all-weather kit - along the coastal path from Southerndown to St Donats Castle.

And they managed to raise a substantial amount through asking for sponsor monies from friends and family for their venture.

All young people from the Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award group have been organising fundraising events for the RNLI as part of their Service Section, delivered by RNLI Regional Education Officer Jody Ballard, such as taking part in the RNLI Reindeer Run and carol singing. The group is currently organising a St Patrick's event in aid of the RNLI, which will take place on Saturday, March 18, in Penarth Conservative Club.
