Burn off those winter pounds for Ty Hafan

THE Ty Hafan Waterfront Barry 5K, on Sunday, May 7, takes on a new dimension this year - as its new organiser from New South Wales challenges you to get out your running shoes and burn away your winter pounds.

Gareth Davies, who comes from Young, New South Wales, Australia, has recently joined the Events team at Ty Hafan.

As his name would suggest, his father is Welsh, as he takes great pride in working for The Children's Hospice in Wales.

Gareth said: "I feel privileged to work for a charity which strives to assist and support children and their families from across my father's homeland.

"It is my aim to continue to make this event a consistent and undeniable success.

"I challenge the Welsh to pick up their game and get out there on the day," he added.

"This race is just one step towards improving their health, their sporting ability and helping Ty Hafan continue its vital work.

"The rest, as in most things in life, requires dedication and commitment - the sort of dedication and commitment that Ty Hafan staff give every day helping seriously-ill children and their families."

Last year's event raised more than 32,000 with 800 registered runners taking part.

ABP and the WDA are again the main sponsors of this event and its success has contributed to its becoming a regular feature on the event calendar.

So it's down to you to show this New South Welshman what the people of old south Wales are made of and what they can achieve!

Start your summer training now by entering this event.

Entry is just 7 for AAW members and 8 for non members.
