THE Town Mayor Councillor Charles Curran will be hosting a Fairtrade Coffee Morning between 10.30am and 12.30pm on Monday, March 6 in the Paget Rooms.
The event, which is being organised in conjunction with the Penarth Fairtrade Forum, is to help the forum in its campaign to achieve Fairtrade town status for Penarth and to mark Fairtrade Fortnight which runs from March 6 to 19.
Civic dignatories from across the Vale, Town Councillors, Penarth Fairtrade Forum members, managers/proprietors from workplaces in Penarth who are supporting the Fairtrade campaign in the town have all been invited to attend.
However the Town Mayor Councillor Curran says: "Anyone interested in or wishing to support the drive in the town for Fairtrade status is more than welcome to attend.
"There will be a small entrance fee of 1 for which you will receive a Fairtrade cup of tea/coffee plus a delicious Fairtrade biscuit.
"There will be Fairtrade, Tradecraft and Tearcraft stalls and it is also hoped that my nominated charities will also provide stalls supporting their work.
"Sixth Form Pupils of St Cyres School, where a very successful Fairtrade stall is run for the benefit of pupils each Friday during term time, have agreed to come along and volunteers from the Oxfam shop in Penarth have kindly agreed to help out.
"This is a community event and anyone interested in the Penarth Fairtrade campaign or in Fairtrade in general is more than welcome to come along and join in."
