PENARTH locations are highly likely to feature in a new Russell T Davies drama called Torchwood - which has been billed as an adult version of Doctor Who.
A spokesperson for BBC Wales said that the series would be filmed mainly in and around Cardiff and the production team was likely to film in Penarth settings, although exact locations have yet to be confirmed.
Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who.
The British sci-fi crime thriller for adult audiences will follow the adventures of a team of renegade investigators, led by the enigmatic Captain Jack, played by John Barrowman.
It will see the investigators scavenge alien technology in a very real world to solve crime, both alien and human.
Filming for the 13-part drama will start in the summer and the series will go out on BBC Three and BBC One.
Torchwood is written by Russell T Davies and Chris Chibnall, with contributing writers including P J Hammond and Toby Whithouse.
Welsh actress Eve Myles has been confirmed to play Gwen Cooper - the lead female role.
Eve's credits include a highly successful run at the National Theatre when she appeared alongside Michael Gambon in Henry IV Parts I & II, and she also had a main role in the BBC Wales drama series Belonging.
