Donkey came from nowhere in crash

A PENARTH cabbie is counting his lucky stars after escaping serious injury when a donkey ran from the roadside into the path of his vehicle.

Albert Holland, a driver with the K-Tax taxi firm, was driving along Lavernock Road at 5am last Sunday, taking a fare to Sully, when the donkey jumped out into the road in front of his people-carrier.

Albert said: "He came from nowhere. I noticed him earlier in the evening grazing on the side of the road. He just sprang out in front of me.

"The impact on the vehicle was incredible. I consider myself very lucky to have been travelling in a vehicle that could withstand the force. I am grateful to be here to tell the tale. If I had been in a normal car I think it could have been much more serious."
