Charlotte has vision for store

SINGING superstar Charlotte Church will be in Penarth at the weekend to open the new Specsavers Opticians in the town centre.

Specsavers Opticians will celebrate its opening over three days - including a party for local businesses on Thursday evening and culminating in a "Saturday Spec-tacular" event where Charlotte will join the party.

A caf bar located above the Specsavers store will open at the same time.

Charlotte will be joined at the store by other well known faces including Charlie Dale, star of Belonging and Coronation Street, and Cardiff Blues stars to celebrate the opening with their customers.

The new Specsavers store will be managed by Frank and Laoise Moloney - who run two other stores in Cardiff's Queen Street and Albany Road - and dispensing partner Pauline O'Neill, while Reardons caf upstairs is owned by Dylan Reardon Smith who also owns the popular Wrap and Roll chain in Cardiff.

Some £250,000 has been invested in the premises to renovate and fit it out to the highest possible standard to provide two new businesses to the Penarth community.

The new Specsavers store, which has created 11 jobs, is equipped with two, hi-tech, air-conditioned testing rooms and a hearcare centre to offer a full range of services to the area.

Frank Moloney said: "We chose to open in Penarth to provide a convenient alternative to our city centre stores for the many Specsavers customers living in and around this area, especially young families and our older customers, who can find it a chore to get into and around the city centre.

"This week is all about celebrating with our customers, and hopefully providing them with some fun.

"Complimentary drinks and canapes will be on offer - as well as the chance to meet some local celebs face-to-face."

Charlotte Church will be attending Specsavers Opticians Penarth in the morning of Saturday, May 6.
