Public consultation is key
PUBLIC consultation is being viewed as a key element in the development of a plan focusing on the delivery of services for children and young people in the Vale of Glamorgan over the next three years.
As part of the development of a Vale of Glamorgan Children and Young People's Partnership Plan (2008-11) and in line with Welsh Assembly Government guidelines, a draft has been published and will be the subject of consultation until June 20.
The draft plan has been prepared by the Children and Young People's Partnership, including the council, health, voluntary sector and other associated agencies, after listening to the 'needs and aspirations' of children and young people and views of service providers.
Emphasising that public involvement was "very welcome" in helping develop the plan, the council's lead director for children and young people, Bryan Jeffreys, said: "The council and its partners want to ensure that children and young people in the Vale are able to achieve their full potential in every area of their lives.
"The partnership will ensure that children and young people are well informed and supported to access a broad range of quality services."
He added: "We hope our residents will take time to let us know whether they think we have captured the right priorities or, indeed, missed anything out. All views will be taken into account when preparing the final document to be issued in September."
