I have a mission, which I have chosen to accept.
On the horizon is the publication of the Christmas Radio Times, this is one of the signs for me that the big day is getting closer.
It is the only time I buy that publication all year but Christmas wouldn’t be the same without it.
Every year I go through it, take note of all the shows I’d like to watch and then, usually, forget about almost all of them.
However, this year I have Sky+, which is one of the greatest inventions of all time. I love mine, and I show this by recording enormous amounts of TV shows because it’s so easy to do.
Problem is, I need to make some room on it to accommodate what will, by my estimation, be the avalanche of telly I’m going to record when I’m sitting there with the remote in one hand and the Radio Times in the other.
I fear I may have to sacrifice those twenty three episodes of “Q.I.”, those music documentaries recorded off BBC 3 that have been sitting there for months and the job lot of Christmas films I’ve taped just because I could.
You know, there are people who are, as we speak, putting their lives on the line for the good of the world, freedom, democracy and all that kind of thing, and I’m worrying that I’m running out of memory on my Sky+. Life’s not so bad after all.
