Horton Hears A Who!

Horton Hears A Who! (U) *** - Jim Carrey, Steve Carrell, Carol Burnett and Will Arnett.

THIS charming enough and amusing CGI caper released just in time for the school holidays is the latest Dr Seuss story to make it onto the big screen.

The adventure all starts when idiosyncratic elephant Horton (Jim Carrey) hears a voice calling from a tiny speck of dust he catches on a clover.

It is home to the "Whos" and Horton soon makes friends with their mayor (Steve Carrell).

But both pals face utter disbelief from friends as Horton tries to get the speck back to safety.

Their path is blocked by the jungle's deafer members and more cynical leader Kangaroo (Carol Burnett).

A hunt is the launched to track down Horton and the flower, led by frightening vulture (Will Arnett).

The plot is, unsurprisingly, as bonkers as any Dr Seuss creation, with the wacky adventures sure to leave many adults a bit nonplussed but there are some in-jokes to try and keep the grown-ups on side.

It may be no classic but Horton Hears A Who! has probably got enough about it to keep the little ones amused for the duration of an Easter outing.
