ROCK VETERAN: John Otway
THE eccentric and self-deprecating rock veteran John Otway dubbed himself rock’n’roll’s greatest failure after many unsuccessful attempts to produce a second hit single to follow his 1977 classic Cor Baby, That’s Really Free with Wild Willy Barrett.
However, a mere quarter century later, he was back in the charts and on Top of The Pops with the wonderful disco pastiche, Bunsen Burner, much to the joy of his adoring and patient fans.
There’s a chance to see him in action when Otway comes to Newport’s The Riverfront in the spring.
He will be in the city on Friday, March 2 at 7.45pm.
Tickets cost £13 and are available online at www.newport.gov.uk/riverfront or from the box office on 01633 656757.
