Shaun Ryder has said reuniting with Black Grape is like putting on “an old pair of comfy shoes”.
The band are marking the 21st anniversary of Black Grape’s debut album, It’s Great When You’re Straight… Yeah.
The Happy Mondays star told the Manchester Evening News how the rehearsals for their debut gig next month were going.
“It’s like putting an old pair of comfy shoes on. It’s like that with the Mondays, it’s just a pleasure now. Age, maturity, we can enjoy what we’re doing. No treadmill bull****,” he said.
Shaun also revealed that he’s a fan of Taylor Swift and Jessie J – thanks to his daughters.
“The girls now, the seven and six year olds, I come home and they’re blasting our stuff out on YouTube,” he said. “And I like Jessie J, I think Taylor Swift’s great and I love Miley Cyrus.
“She’s brilliant, even grown ups are slagging her and it ain’t nothing that any young kid isn’t supposed to do in rock and roll music. If it wasn’t her twerking it’d be more manufactured nonsense.”
