Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has revealed she has received abuse online over the death of her baby son.

But the 38-year-old who plays Michelle Connor in the ITV soap, said she would not be forced to quit Twitter because she was “too addicted”.

The actress was devastated when her baby son Archie died when he was born 18 weeks early in 2009.

She told the Daily Star Sunday: “I’ve had all sorts on Twitter – death threats, people calling me a home-wrecker. But the worst things someone said was, ‘remember when your baby died and I laughed?’.

“Messages like that are just sick and you have to think they are coming from someone who is not well. It is horrific to have to read something like that but I would never consider quitting Twitter.”

The star, who has 579,000 followers on the social network, said she said it was “annoying” she often got abuse for rumours that were untrue.

She said: “You never get used to that. You want to tell everyone it isn’t true but people don’t listen because they have already made their minds up. It is frustrating that people see you a certain way that you’re not but that’s something I just have to live with because it comes with the territory and is part of the job.”

Marsh has three other children, including Emily and David from her previous relationship to Dave Cunliffe.

In March 2011 she gave birth to her daughter Polly, who arrived around seven weeks early, weighing 4lb 1oz, her daughter with partner Jamie Lomas, although the couple are now divorced.
