Jennifer Holliday is heading to Broadway to star in The Color Purple.

The Tony and Grammy-winning singer is taking over the role of Shug Avery from Heather Headley in the production.

Heather took over from Jennifer Hudson at the Bernard B Jacobs Theatre.

Jennifer won a Tony in Dreamgirls as Effie White — belting out a memorable And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.

The Color Purple musical is a stage version of Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel set in rural Georgia, which covers a lifetime of events observed by Celie, a homely, uneducated farm woman whose dreams are repeatedly shattered by the cruelty of males.
