MADE by Hand: The Contemporary Craft Fair is coming to Cardiff this October and has announced the details of 135 diverse talented exhibitors that will attend the event. Running from October 31 until November 2, the event held at City Hall, is the largest craft fair held in Wales and will bring together exceptional craftwork from leading award-winning makers, which have all been handpicked by a panel of industry experts.

LITERATURE Wales is inviting children and young people to take part in an online event to celebrate Dylan Thomas’ centenary. Anyone aged between seven and 25 can enter this international event to help the Developing Dylan 100 project to write an epic, 100 line poem in the spirit of the famous Welsh poet.

CLIVE played host to a group of eleven female walkers at the Dare Valley Country Park in Aberdare which first opened in 1974 having been created on reclaimed land with remnants of the old coal mines still in evidence in the valleys.

SULLY WI met on September 3, at the start of a busy month. Members and visitors were welcomed and informed about forthcoming events. Everyone agreed that the Garden Party in July had been a wonderful occasion that had been enjoyed by all. As it had been so successful, Liz Marsh very kindly offered to host a garden party again in 2015, to which we look forward with eager anticipation.

TEN walkers joined leader Geraint for a trip down to Newton from where they set off in lovely autumnal sunshine past St John’s or Sandford’s Well, the first of three ancient watering holes which reputedly had healing powers that they would encounter during the day. Heading past St John the Baptist Church which overlooks the village green, they made their way back to the main A4106 and followed Tyn-y-caeau Lane before meandering through fields containing sheep towards Nottage.

IF YOU are interested in taking the Dayskipper theory course a new one is due to start on Tuesday evenings in Penarth from September 22. This course offers a comprehensive introduction to cruising for inexperienced skippers. The course equips you with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. A basic knowledge of lights is also included to introduce you to night cruising.
