PENARTH Songwriters' Circle presents another three talented singer songwriters at All Saints Church Hall, Penarth, on Friday, April 25.

This time around they welcome Welsh chart topper and BBC Radio 2 favourite Al Lewis, alt-country siren Hannah Elton-Wall from the band 'The Redlands Palomino Company' and up and coming Cardiff troubadour Harri Davies.

Al Lewis is fast becoming one of Wales' most successful singer songwriters. His latest English language album 'Battles' was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee with Grammy Award winning producer Charlie Peacock (The Civil Wars).

The single 'Make a Little Room' was play listed on BBC Radio2 and received healthy support from DJs like Janice Long, Dermot O'Leary and 6Music's Cerys Matthews who also invited Al to perform a duet with her on her latest album 'Hullabaloo'.

His previous album 'In The Wake' was nominated for the 'Welsh Music Prize' while his Welsh-language albums have spent multiple weeks at number one in the Welsh language album charts. His blend of gentle acoustics and emotive vocals have earned him comparisons to James Taylor and some high profile support slots with the likes of Jools Holland who invited Al to open the show at The Royal Albert Hall just last November.

Hannah Elton-Wall is one half of the song writing partnership that drives celebrated UK Americana band 'The Redlands Palomino Company'. The band are about to release their fourth studio album 'Broken Carelessly', which has already been widely acclaimed as their best yet.

A national newspaper branded them "Alt-country heroes", and the legendary Bob Harris recently, “strongly recommended” them on BBC Radio2. Another national newspaper wrote, "her voice soars like an eagle over the Rockies, and British or not, there are moments on this record that more than rival the real deal".

This very rare solo appearance will spotlight Hannah's beautiful voice and the strength of the songs in a stripped down acoustic manner.

Harri Davies is a young, up and coming singer songwriter still in the early days of his musical career but full of great promise. After beginning to play guitar in his early teens with a love of old blues, folk and rock, more recent recording sessions have found him working with some of Cardiff's finest musicians. Those studio and BBC Radio Wales live sessions have unveiled a gentle soul with an articulate guitar style, a

soothing, husky voice and a clear talent for writing engaging and heartfelt songs. Inspired by the likes of Nick Drake and John Martyn, Harri Davies is certainly one to watch.

The Songwriters' Circle's format continues to win great acclaim from both spectators and performers alike. The bi-monthly event has now become a popular fixture in the local music calender, after bringing some of the finest song-smiths in the country to Penarth.

With all three singer-songwriters sitting side by side on stage, taking it in turns to perform, it creates a warm and intimate atmosphere that breaks down barriers, encouraging unique collaborations and fascinating insights into the stories and inspiration behind the songs.

With yet another three gifted singer-songwriters on the same stage it's certain to be another special night.

Tickets are available in advance from Pencerdd music shop, Station Approach, Penarth, and Spillers Records, Cardiff, (£8 in advance or £10 door) doors 7.30pm, performance starts 8.15pm. Bar provided.
