JOIN us at Glamorgan Archives this summer for a series of FREE events celebrating the seaside.

There will be two showings of archive film footage of Penarth esplanade in the 1960s and a steamboat trip from Penarth to Weston in the 1930s.

These take place on Wednesday, July 30, and Wednesday, August 27, at 2pm.

‘Are We There Yet?’ Do you have fond memories of caravanning and camping in Porthcawl or on the Gower? Come along to hear Ian Smith from the National Waterfront Museum discuss family holidays in south Wales from the 1950s onwards on Wednesday, August 6, 2pm.

Interested in vintage fashion or historical costume? Come along to ‘Splash! A History of Bathing Suits’ when Jill Salen will be chatting about swimming costumes through the ages on Wednesday, August 13, at 2pm.

Looking for a FREE craft activity for children during the summer holidays? Design your own bathing suit or create your own postcard, inspired by items from the archives on Wednesday, August 20, at 2pm-4pm.

There will be complimentary refreshments at all events.

These events are FREE but places are limited and need to be booked in advance.
