A HIGHLIGHT of Sherman Cymru’s autumn season will be the first production of new artistic director Rachel O’Riordan who will produce an exciting and contemporary version of Shakespeare’s classic Romeo and Juliet.

The production will be performed at the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff from October 2 – 18.

Romeo and Juliet will be profiling some of the hottest fresh talent emerging from drama schools. Chris Gordon, a recent graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama will be making his professional acting debut in the title role of Romeo. Sophie Melville, who recently toured with Clywd Theatr Cymru, will play Juliet.

Other incredibly talented members of the cast include BAFTA Cymru Award Winner Sara Lloyd-Gregory taking the role of Lady Capulet.

Romeo and Juliet will also see a strong Celtic presence, as alongside Welsh actors there will be Scottish actor Paul Rattray and Irish actors Tony Flynn and Sean O’Callaghan.

Alongside this outstanding cast, Sherman Cymru has also created a chorus of six local male actors to perform in Romeo and Juliet, many of whom have never been part of a producing theatre company before.
