EERIE Evenings is hosting an event for the brave members of the public as they go on a late night exploration of Cosmeston Medieval Village, Penarth on September 13. Eerie Evenings are a Midlands’-based paranormal events company which formed in 2005 who offer affordable and genuine ghost hunts across the country and this time they’re coming to Penarth.

Chris Arnold, the founder and managing director, said “We’ve heard that Cosmeston Medieval Village was haunted and with it being such a unique location, we felt that this was too good an opportunity to miss.”

The night will include a tour of the village with history tales and ghost stories. Once the tour is complete, the vigils will begin as the various groups investigate the most haunted buildings in the village. On the night you can take part in experiments such as séance, dowsing and glass-divination and the opportunity to use real ghost hunting equipment.

Cosmeston Medieval Village dates back to the 13th and 14th centuries, which gives an insight into a community which lived, worked and died on that very spot 600 years ago. The village has been completely restored and is accessible to the public to see what it would have looked like in its heyday. The village is restored to 1350, when King Richard III was on the throne and England and France were at war; a conflict known as the Hundred Years War. Meanwhile, during this time Britain was still feeling the devastation of the Black Death, which wiped out almost half the population and certainly hit the village.

As there were only 50-100 residents, it could certainly have been the case that the village was wiped out but it is confirmed that after 1360 the village lay derelict and abandoned.

There have been many sightings by staff and visitors of paranormal activity including two wardens locking up the village, the turned and spotted two people walking across the field, after turning to each other in confusion on how they could’ve been missed, they turned back to discover they had gone. There were no places to hide and not enough time for them to move that quickly.

Make sure you come along and experience your own real life ghost hunt with the event running from around 8pm until 3am. Tickets cost £45 per person.
