A PENARTH-based production company is set to perform the romantic comedy Bedroom Farce as part of its autumn tour.

Following successful tours and building on their reputation for producing accessible and high quality drama, Black RAT Productions will perform Alan Ayckbourn’s hilarious fast paced comedy Bedroom Farce in a seventeen venues tour around Wales this autumn from September 30 until November 8.

The tour is a Black RAT Productions, Blackwood Miners’ Institute and RCT Theatres Co-Production and supported by Arts Council Wales.

The production will be directed by former Stanwell School drama teacher Richard Tunley.

Alan Ayckbourn’s acutely observed and sophisticated master piece lifts the lid on married couples’ relationships in 1970s suburbia. The story follows four couples as their loving relationships are put to the test in a night of mayhem as underlying tensions are brought to the fore.

With all the essential elements of farce, the play is written to involve clever timing and use of rooms to great comedy effect.

The four couples are all at different stages of their relationships, from the impetuous joy of new love to an unshakable lifelong partnership and the pressures of their partnerships gather speed in this timeless comedy. Over the course of one night an outrageously selfish and highly strung duo parade their problems around the bedrooms of the other three, exposing the cracks in their marriages as well as their own with hilarious results.

Black RAT Productions have enjoyed huge success with their productions of Bouncers, Up ’n’ Under, Neville’s Island and high flying comedy Boeing Boeing in recent years. For the 2014 production of Bedroom Farce the theatre company are delighted to welcome back Black RAT favourites as well as welcome new talent. The production features Black RAT regular Gareth Bale as Trevor (also assistant director for the tour), a return in the actor/director role for Richard Tunley playing the character of Nick and a welcome back for TV’s My Family actor Keiron Self as Malcolm.

Joining the cast will be Lizzie Rogan as Kate, Lynne Seymour as Jan, Llinos Daniel as Susannah and Dudley Rogers as Ernest, long term husband of Delia played by well known Welsh actress Christine Pritchard.
