THE Flat Holm Society will host a talk by Martin Thomas from the British Trusts for Ornithology.
It will be held on Thursday, October 16 at Room Three at the Kymin, Beach Road, Penarth from 7pm until 9pm.
Martin will talk about his work and research involving the trapping, ringing and monitoring of small birds and demonstrating the techniques involved.
He is currently making regular visits to flat Holm Island specialising in recording small birds, in particular pipits, finches and wheatears.
Thanks to funding from Environment Wales, the society is now able to offer volunteer, working weekends on the island, with opportunities to see Martin at work and learn some of the skills first hand.
This is just one of a series of talks and workshops planned by the society and they are open to all and welcome new members.
To attend the talk donations of £2 for society members and £3 for non members are kindly asked for.
