MUSIC at Lunchtime Concerts has returned to All Saints Church, Victoria Square, Penarth.

These popular concerts start on Monday October 20 for the second year running, with the church providing live music between 1pm and 2pm.

The first recital will be given by Richard Parry (baritone) and all musicians have given their time freely.

Richard sings classical songs and musical numbers introducing the theme of Coleridge in Wales, a 2016 cross-Wales festival project that is based in Penarth. Richard Parry studied singing with Mark Wildman (Head of Voice, Royal Academy of Music) and has performed in classical music theatre with Opera North, Clonter Opera, Jigsaw Opera, The English Bach Festival and also in concert and recital. Richard has won awards for his theatre writing, and spent the last few years developing accessible concerts of classical song and drama, under the title of dramatic song recitals, including “An Act of Piracy”, “Maud” and “Postcards from Robert Schumann”.

Attendees of the concert are invited to bring their own lunch and will be entertained while sitting at tables on the gallery or to sit more formally downstairs. Tea, coffee and cold drinks will be provided.

All concerts are free to attend although donations are gratefully received towards the work of the church.

All Saints, since its re-ordering which includes the mezzanine floor, servery and lift, creche and toilets has become a very popular venue for concerts and is fully accessible to disabled people.

Other performers set to perform include the All Saints Church organist and choirmaster, James Bull, Peter Fielding and Alison Dite (clarinet and piano), Anthony Negus (pianist and conductor), Nigel Lloyd-Latham and Peter Cox (piano, voice and guitar) and on November 17 the church will be very pleased to welcome the Lux Quintet.
