SHOW of Hands, one of the leading forces in British folk, have reunited after their longest ever absence from the UK touring scene and are coming to St David’s Hall Cardiff.

Catch the multi award winning band on November 20 as savvy singer songwriter Steve Knightley, inspired instrumentalist Phil Beer and dazzling double bassist/vocalist Miranda Sykes are back together for the first time in a year.

This year while Steve has pursued his popular solo Grow Your Own Gig tour of village halls, Phil has been out on the West Country waters with his Folkboat combo of sailing/music workshops aboard the 74-foot Bristol built wooden cutter Pegasus (in which he crewed in the 2009 Tall Ships race) and 12-berth ketch Tectona.

Meanwhile Miranda has completed scores of gigs across the country in her duo with mandolin maestro Rex Preston and the pair has also appeared at festivals in Steve Knightley’s Wake the Union Band together with Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin.

Recognised as leading ambassadors for roots music, Show of Hands has won Best Duo, Best Live Act and Best Original Song categories at BBC Radio 2’s annual Folk Awards. They were recently entered into the Hall of Fame on the Mike Harding Folk Show and this year has also seen the release of their acclaimed WW1 commemorative album Centenary-Words and Music of the Great War - a unique poetry and music collaboration between Show of Hands and popular husband and wife actors Imelda Staunton and Jim Carter.

Material from this “uplifting and redemptive” double album will form a key part of the band’s performance this autumn which will see them perform two sets, with no support.

Tickets to see the band cost £18 each and are available from the box office by calling 02920 878444 or book online at www.stdavidshallcardiff.co.uk.
