THE amazing African Children’s Choir is coming to St David’s Hall on Wednesday, January 14, 2015.

Make sure to come along and help provide a better future for the continent’s most vulnerable youngsters.

The children will delight you with their adorable smiles and wonderful songs on a night of heart-warming music.

For the last 30 years, the Grammy-nominated group have appeared in thousands of concerts. They have performed everywhere from Live 8 to the Royal Albert Hall, and even in front of world leaders at the United Nations. Also, the children recorded the official Diamond Jubilee track Sing, which was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Gary Barlow.

The concert features many of their much-loved songs accompanied by African instrumentation and hand-clapping, as well as traditional spirituals and contemporary tunes.

Composed of children aged six to 12, many of whom have lost both parents through war, famine or disease, the choir brings inspiration to listeners. Despite the tragedy that has marred their lives; the children are radiant with hope and portray a message of happiness in their music. They represent the entire youth of a continent and demonstrate the potential of African children to become strong leaders for a better future in their homelands.

Thirty years ago, Ray Barnett founded Friends in the West (now called Music For Life) whilst working amongst Uganda’s persecuted Christians on human rights issues during Idi Amin’s reign of terror. Barnett brought the children to North America in September 1984 and formed the first African Children’s Choir. Since then it has helped support and educate thousands of homeless and disadvantaged children.

This tour aims to increase awareness of the needs of destitute and orphaned children in Africa and to raise funds for the continued development of the African Children's Choir Programme. The sponsor Music For Life is an interdenominational, non-profit humanitarian charity which currently supports 7,000 homeless and disadvantaged children in Africa and also provides emergency assistance to orphans across Bosnia, Romania and Albania.

Not only will you experience an inspiring evening of music by attending the African Children’s Choir’s concert, you’ll also help continue this amazing work.

Tickets cost from £9 to £12 for adults and for under 12s cost £5 plus a £2.95 ticket service charge per transaction.
