WATERLOO Tea has reinstated the Washington Gallery after it being closed for nearly two years.

The gallery will be showcasing work by local artist Carl Chapple until April 12. Mr Chapple is a portrait painter from the Vale of Glamorgan, who has recently had works accepted by The Royal Portrait Gallery in London.

Exhibitions will run every six to eight weeks with local as well as national talent being displayed.

The current operators said: “At Waterloo Tea we are committed to the arts and have galleries in both our other venues. We felt that the re introduction of art into the Washington Buildings was fitting and will fill a void that was created when the former hub closed. Our vision is to develop the space over this year so that it becomes known again for the arts. At least once a month there will be an open evening allowing the public a chance to engage with both the artist and the local arts community.”

Upcoming exhibitions will be by Pauline Williams from April 13 until June 1 and Susan Richardson from June 2 until June 30.
