GLAMORGAN Archives will launch a new exhibition ‘Strikes and Riots’ on Monday, March 2.

The exhibition is on loan from the National Museum Wales and offers an in-depth look into troubled times throughout Wales’ history.

The free exhibition runs until Friday, March 27 and highlights five strikes and riots relating to work and employment in Wales over a 200-year period.

The events featured in the exhibition include the Merthyr Rising of 1831, the Rebecca Riots of 1839-1843, the Tonypandy riots of 1910, the Llanelli Railway strike of 1911, and the Caia Parc, Wrexham riots of 2003.

The exhibition also coincides with the 30th anniversary of the return to work of the striking miners in March 1985.

The exhibition is available during the archives opening hours.
