ALAN Thorne will give his presentation on Religion in Penarth over the Centuries at the Parish Hall, Albert Road, Penarth.

The evening starts at 7pm on Thursday, March 12.

Alan will be providing an overview of religion from pagan times to the present day. He will also touch on the history of some of the church buildings and tell the group about the time in 1940 when the government was discussing the possibility of demolishing St Augustine’s.

Tickets to the evening cost £4 for friends and £5 in full and include refreshments.

Then on Saturday, March 28, the Treorchy Male Choir will perform in St Augustine’s at 7.30pm.

The concert is in aid of Ty Hafan and tickets cost £15 from Albert Road School (02920 707682).

The Grow Show and Share weekend takes place on September 19 and 20. This will give all growers, showers and preserve makers in Penarth an opportunity to let the world know how much growing and making happens in Penarth.

It is new, but they hope that people who like the Christmas Tree Festival will like this too. So, start planting and/or preserving and let people know that, despite the loss of the Penarth Horticultural Show, once again the best of Penarth’s produce and flowers will be on display.
