CONCEPT Players will be performing at The Paget Rooms, Penarth from Thursday, March 12 until Saturday 14.

Come see the quintessential comic operetta that will chase away any remaining winter blues.

If you think you know Gilbert and Sullivan’s operettas then think again. The Concept Players are known for their innovative settings but they never mess with the music so there will be plenty to enjoy for those new to Gilbert and Sullivan and for traditionalists.

This brand new production of an old classic takes place aboard the British naval ship HMS Pinafore.

The captain's daughter, Josephine, is in love with a lower-class sailor, Ralph Rackstraw, although her father intends her to marry Sir Joseph Porter, the First Lord of the Admiralty.

She abides by her father's wishes at first, but Sir Joseph's advocacy of the equality of humankind encourages Ralph and Josephine to overturn conventional social order. They declare their love for each other and eventually plan to elope.

The captain discovers the plan, but, as in many of the Gilbert and Sullivan operas, a surprise is just around the corner.

This night of theatrical fun comes hot on the heels of the critically acclaimed and award winning Lend Me A Tenor, the spell binding The Mystery of Edwin Drood and their last outing, A Little Night Music (which has been nominated for several awards).

Concept Players have built a reputation for quality productions with a daring streak and this comical musical celebration of love will not disappoint.

So why not join Captain Corcoran, his crew, plus Sir Joseph Porter KCB and his bevy of sisters, cousins and aunts, as Concept Players set sail for a light-hearted tale of love, snobbery and mistaken identities.

Tickets cost £10 and are available from 02920 704951 or www.concept-players.com.
