AN innovative programme of public events which explore the issues relating to arts and health is coming to the Wales Millennium Centre.

Following on from the Anatomy Season in Cardiff, 2013, Clod Ensemble’s Performing Medicine Season 2015 is a series of workshops and talks that provide an opportunity to examine our expectations of the healthcare profession, to share responsibility for its evolution, and to enrich the ways in which we think about and experience our own bodies.

The first event will be the Ways of Seeing with Liz Orton on March 14 from 2pm until 5pm.

This workshop uses a range of photographic imagery, from medical archives and patient photography through to contemporary art photography to consider the relationship between medicine, healthcare and the body. As part of the session you will be invited to take and share photographs as part of a dialogue about personal and professional identities.

Liz Orton work as a visual artist addresses issues of identity, both environmental and social. She regularly leads participatory photography projects and has worked with young refugees, visually impaired people, people with dementia, young carers and elders, enabling them to use the medium of photography to reflect on and represent their world to others.

She is an Arts Consultant for Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals and works at Barts and Kings Medical Schools.

The event costs £5 and for more information please visit www.wmc.org.uk or call the ticket office on 02920 636464.
