THE Mark Jermin Stage School will be performing their latest musical production to St Cyres School this Easter.

On Tuesday, March 31 until Saturday, April 4, the internationally renowned musical will be performed in the brand new theatre space at the school.

The musical recounts the struggle against adversity in 19th century France, telling the tale of Jean Valjean, who for decades has been hunted by the ruthless police inspector, Javert, after breaking parole and agrees to care for a factory worker's daughter.

Amongst the cast are Sam Jennings who plays the role of Javert and Callum O’Neil taking on the comedy role of Thernardier. Both Sam and Callum attend Stanwell School along with many other cast members.

Sam Jennings, 16 from Penarth, said, “This is the first production I have taken part in with the stage school and I have really enjoyed the experience. The cast have been working hard since September to perfect their performances and we are all looking forward to opening night”

Teacher and director Mark Jermin said, “Over the last five years we have established a huge successful school in Penarth with what I see as some of Wales’s finest young talent.

“We have produced many shows in the past such as Honk in 2013 and Adrian Mole in 2014 and Les Miserables was the next step for them. The music is very challenging and you need a strong cast to be able to carry the show.”
