ON Saturday, April 25 will be an ‘ABC’ sale selling arts, books and cakes at Waltham House, Bradford Place, Penarth from 10am until noon.

The event originated after former resident, Lois Massey, donated pictures she wanted to sell for Mothers Union, which supports a number of charities. Other people have now given pictures and books and with homemade cakes the ‘ABC’ sale promises to be a special event.

Some of the pictures are by the late Revd Symonds; others are by local artists using a variety of media. “The range of books”, says Tricia Griffiths, in whose home the sale is being held, “is impressive”.

“I think we should be able to satisfy every taste with some fascinating books on history, lots of works of reference, beautiful editions of well-known authors and lots of murder mysteries”. Entrance is £1 which includes coffee and biscuits.
