THROUGHOUT the month, the Fig Tree Penarth will host works by two of Wales’ leading artists.

Meirion James and Peter Kettle’s work will be on display throughout May.

Meirion Jones, son of the celebrated artist Aneurin Jones, will exhibit his vivid, colourful works at the Fig Tree.

A full-time artist since 2002, Meiron was described by the late Sir Kyffin Williams as "one of the most naturally gifted artists of his generation.”

Peter Kettle was born in Carmarthenshire in 1987. He became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Artists in 2014.

From the age of 16 he knew that he was destined to become an artist, and has dedicated his working life to his passion for painting.

His landscapes capture the moods and light of the Welsh landscape, as well as natural features such as the Avon Gorge in Bristol.

Peter has a keen interest in industrial landscapes too, and has painted Port Talbot steelworks, and derelict slate quarries in north Wales.

The Fig Tree owner, Mike Caplan-Hill, says “We are delighted to have such high calibre work on show, and we are delighted for members of the public to come in and browse. All the works are for sale should anyone see a piece they find irresistible.”
