PENARTH Chamber Music Festival begins today (July 9) and will feature world class musicians playing in the beautifully restored Penarth Pier Pavilion.

David Adams, artistic director and lead of the Welsh National Opera, will perform in the opening concert tonight at 7.30pm. Music will include Schubert Bb trio played by ensemble in residence, the Gould Piano Trio.

Two unique concerts will feature on Friday, July 10, firstly at 7pm with works by Debussy and Ravel and then at 9.30pm there will be a rare chance to hear Schonberg Pierrot Lunaire featuring Sara Fulgoni a wonderful mezzo soprano who sings at major opera houses such as WNO and ENO.

A hilarious children's concert will be performed on Saturday, July 11 at 10.30am. The Mystery of the Missing Maestro with Lenny Sayers, festival musicians and will feature children from Victoria Primary School.

On the same day at 3pm a workshop with well-known broadcaster Richard Wigmore will guide the audience through the works to be played on Sunday followed by a film of Janacek Cunning Little Vixen.

On Sunday, July 12, there will be a performance of Beethoven Kreutzer Sonata and Janacek string quartet and the festival finale takes place at 3pm with Beethoven op 95, 96, 96.
