PENYLAN Gardens will open to the public on Sunday, July 12 from 2-6pm.

Set in the Victorian suburb of Penylan, three gardens that demonstrate in a variety of ways how to add interest and individuality to a small space will open for the National Gardens Scheme.

Palas y Lurcher is less than 12 months old and beautifully illustrates what can be done in a short time, in a small city space. Characterised by ornate ornamental structures and romantic, nectar rich, organic planting.

At 5 Southcourt Road enjoy the fragrance and colour combinations of this beautiful garden. Follow the path under the wisteria and clematis laden arches to the summerhouse. With plenty of seating away from the elements.

The garden was awarded Gold Best Senior Citizen Gardener (Penylan area) and second place in same category for City of Cardiff as a whole.

At 7 Cressy Road, a small subtropical garden, creating an illusion of a much larger space. Lush tropical planting, alive with colour and texture. Nectar rich planting, barrel frog pond and a 10 minute walk to Southcourt Road.

Admission is £3 and children are free and homemade teas are available.
