TWO events are set to be held at Penarth Ex-Serviceman's Club in the coming weeks.

'Get on up! A night of funky sounds' will take place on Friday, July 24, including DJs such as Leon Watkins, Gareth Howells and Liam Curtin from Penarth Soul Club.

There will be a mix of funk-based tunes and those in attendance can expect to hear James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Funkadelic, Stevie Wonder and much more.

Then on Friday, July 31, Shelley Norton and Liam Curtin present 'Hitsville' which will include songs from the likes of Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, and the Temptations.

Shelley and Liam started Penarth Soul Club in September 2014 and it has gone from strength to strength ever since.

The soul club’s first birthday will be celebrated at the Ex-Servicemen’s Club on Saturday, September 12.

Tickets can be bought on the door but advance tickets are also available, for both Friday nights, at Penarth Ex-Servicemen’s Club.
