HOT on the heel of sell-out musicals, Fame Grease and Hairspray, the Memo Arts Centre and Superstars in the Making now present West Side Story.

The Stateside love-story boast a 45-strong Vale cast with 16-year-old Ysgol Bro Morgannwg pupil Seren Hamiliton taking the Maria lead.

Seren was a member of Only kids Aloud, performing at the opening ceremony for the London Olympics.

She was also part of the Only Men Aloud and Only Boys Aloud Christmas tour and a member of the Choir of the World winners at the Eisteddfod, and Cardiff and the Vale Rudd Eisteddfod County Champion in the Under 19 girls solo.

The lead role is taken by Ethan Whitcombe, 19, of Cardiff.

Ethan played lead roles in Grease, Les Miserables, Fame and We Will Rock You.

Supporting the strong cast of 45 talented performers from Barry, Cardiff, across South Wales and Bristol is a live orchestra of 18 talented musicians, many of who have graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Directed by Christian Bullen and musically directed by Christopher Fossey, this show is set to be even bigger than last year’s show-stopping Hairspray production.

West Side Story is a musical masterpiece, bursting with vibrant dance routines and unforgettable songs including Maria, Tonight, I Feel Pretty, Somewhere and America, and will be staged at the Memo Arts Centre from Thursday, August 20 to Saturday, 22.
