THIS year's annual winter concert for Age Cymru will be hosted by legendary Welsh TV presenter Arfon Haines Davies.

The musical evening, kindly sponsored by Western Power Distribution, is now entering its fourth year at the Royal College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.

This year it features the world famous Morriston Orpheus choir, eisteddfod winning musicians Charlie and Lizzie-Lovell Jones, and the Llanishen based Ysgol Y Wern school choir.

There will also be a winter market of stalls and exhibitions with an array of seasonal goods and information tips to help older people get through the cold winter months.

Arfon Haines Davies said: “With isolation and loneliness affecting thousands of older people during the winter months, we need to do all we can to support them.

“During my time as a TV presenter, I heard many horror stories about the impact of loneliness and isolation – feeling part of society is important to all of us, but especially amongst older people.”

Age Cymru’s chief executive Ian Thomas added: “Our winter concert is a very important part of our fundraising efforts so we can support older people during the difficult winter months.

“It also provides an ideal opportunity for older people, their families and their friends, to enjoy a wonderful evening of festive music at one of the most iconic venues in Wales – it is certainly one of the highlights in my calendar.”

You can buy tickets for the Thursday, November 26 concert from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama’s box office by calling 02920 391391 or by visiting rwcmd.ac.uk. Tickets cost between £10 - £15 (concessions available).
